Our Story

Bride's Story

Shaw and I met at a fraternity social in Athens, GA. The Zeta Pi chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. was hosting its annual Guerilla Thrilla at One Love in downtown Athens. I was there with several of my hallmates. Shaw was there with his fraternity brothers.

Shaw asked me to dance, and was so polite about it that I instantly obliged. I was so impressed by his dance skills that I didn't dance with anyone else that night. At the end of the night, I offered him my number.

Shaw called and we communicated by phone and instant message before arranging a date. Our first date was a movie in his dormroom. Those present included me, Shaw, and my friend Takeisha Tate. Shaw was a wonderful host, but looked forward to his traveling to Athens more than me going back onto Tech's campus.

Groom's Story

Brandee and I met at a fraternity social in Athens, GA, that's our story and we're sticking to it. Having recently crossed into the Nu Mu Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. at Georgia Tech, my fellow line brothers and I were anxious to visit neighboring chapters and be out and about. Our first such opportunity presented itself in Athens, so the chapter piled into cars and made our way.

While enjoying the event, I spotted a cute young woman dancing with some friends and immediately felt drawn to accompany her. I asked her to dance, she obliged, and we spent the rest of the night enjoying each other's company. At the end of the night, she was so taken with my charm and my moves, she offered her number, and I accepted.

We ended up talking a few times by phone and instant message (though IM was easier, she's not a phone person), and finally set up a date. Like any good, responsible friend, Keisha played chaperone for our dorm-room movie. Our next date was just the two of us, and I asked Brandee to "Bee my valentine," she said "yes," and the Bee and "Angry Bee" (yellow jacket) have been a great pair ever since.
